Subnetwork Ericeae

The Subnetwork Erica (non-hardy) was initially founded in 2018. In 2023, it was decided to expand it to include all Erica, Calluna and Daboecia species. The sub-network was renamed Ericeae to include all genera belonging to the tribus.
The subnetwork is coordinated by the breeder Helmut Hiedl. A common concern of the participants is the decentralised and long-term preservation of the diverse collections and their documentation. The regular meetings enable a valuable exchange of experience and knowledge. The BSA is involved as a collection-preserving partner. The central collection of non-hardy Erica is located at the BSA test station in Hanover.
Information, descriptions and photos of almost 250 accessions are published in the DGZ database.
