Compatibility of work and private life

The Federal Plant Variety Office offers flexible and family-friendly working time arrangements in many areas, as well as the option of part-time employment. Depending on the workplace, our employees have the opportunity to work from home on individual days. This includes mobile working and teleworking. Of course, this requires that the personal, technical and work organization conditions are met.

Health promotion and prevention

Your health is important to us! We support the health promotion of our employees and their families through the company social counseling provided by our external service provider on social and health-related topics.

We advocate cycling to work whenever possible to promote health and protect the environment. For some years now, a bicycle service station has been available to employees in Hanover for minor repairs. We also encourage and support our employees to take part in events such as the “Cycle to work” campaign (an initiative of the ADFC and AOK), the dragon boat race or the “B2Run” organized by DAK Gesundheit in Hanover.

We strive to further develop and expand our preventative health services.

Of course, we also look after employees on long-term sick leave and show them appropriate job prospects and support for the future with our company integration management (BEM).

Induction phase

We offer newly hired employees a structured induction and provide them with an experienced contact person to ensure that nothing stands in the way of a successful start to their new and responsible job.

Personnel development

Through the Federal Academy of Public Administration (BAköV) and other providers, we enable our employees to further develop their professional and personal skills in a targeted manner, based on the needs of the service.

In line with the maxim of “lifelong learning”, we support (where necessary) our own personal further qualification, e.g. as part of the promotion of junior staff or the enhancement of employment-related skills. The qualification of employees is also an essential part of personnel development in accordance with the collective agreement for the public sector.

Inclusion

The Federal Plant Variety Office is committed to inclusion. Applications from people with severe disabilities are therefore expressly encouraged. They will be given preferential consideration in the selection process.

Further advantages

Our employees and trainees in Hanover and at the Magdeburg, Scharnhorst and Wurzen test stations have the opportunity to receive an employer subsidy for a JobTicket (Deutschlandticket Job) for public transport. A subsidy for public transport can also be applied for at other locations if required.

Last but not least, it is an advantage that sufficient free parking facilities for bicycles and cars are available at all locations of the Federal Plant Variety Office.
