Annually the Federal Plant Variety Office publishes data on field inspected seed production areas and certified seed quantities in Germany. From now on, in addition to the previous format (https://www.bundessortenamt.de/bsatest/en/seeds/seed-production-statistics), you can retrieve these data according to your needs (e.g. by variety, species, year, Federal State) via a newly created search tool. The results can be downloaded either as pdf or as csv file for subsequent statistical analyses.
The data collected by the Federal States have been published by the Federal Plant Variety Office since 1988 (seed production areas), 2010 (certified seed quantities) and 2016 (certified seed potato quantities), respectively. Organic seed production areas have only been recorded since 2020, based on data that are provided voluntarily during the certification process.
