German Gene Bank for Vines

German Gene Bank for Vines

In order to secure the long-term and efficient use of vine genetic resources in Germany and to guarantee their availability, the German Gene Bank for Vines was founded in 2010 as a gene bank network. The coordination centre is the Julius Kühn-Institut (JKI). The German Gene Bank for Vines consists of vine conservation organisations and is therefore a significant player in ensuring the future of vine genetic resources in Germany. The Geilweilerhof Grapevine Institute of the Julius Kühn-Institut, the Federal Plant Variety Office and additional federal and national organisations store collections of vine species and varieties.

Additional information can be found on the German Gene Bank for Vines (DGR) website.
