New president of the CPVO: Francesco Mattina

Since 01/02/2022, the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) has a new president. Francesco Mattina has been vice president of the CPVO since 2017 and has now been confirmed in his new position. He succeeds Martin Ekvad, who managed the CPVO as president from 2011-2021.

The CPVO was established in 1995. It is responsible for granting community plant variety rights. The Federal Plant Variety Office carries out the examination for distinctness, uniformity and stability on behalf of the CPVO for numerous plant species. It also represents Germany in expert groups and in the Administrative Council of the CPVO.
