Since 1995, it has been possible to obtain plant breeders’ rights on an EU-wide basis. Community plant variety rights are effective in all member states. The CPVO (Community Plant Variety Office) is the authority responsible for granting Community plant variety rights. The legal basis for this is Council Regulation (EC) No. 2100/94 on Community plant variety rights.
